Welcoming Remarks

Treaty & York Boat Days Event Coordinators

We are blessed with another year to continue to celebrate our 147th Annual Treaty (1875) and 49th York Boat Days. We are excited in anticipation to share our festivities with family and friends. It is always nice to see a gathering of our people, laughing and participating in the events, which is our main focus. Since the development and improvements of our community facilities, our community has become more active and conscientious of their wellbeing. It takes a community of resources and as parents, grandparents to set that experience in being active and supportive of our children and/or grand children in their endeavors especially during such exciting times as our Treaty and York Boat Days (TYBD) and its’ special events.

Embarking on our Heritage and our strong vibrant History, Stop by the Northern Fort Archway and Jailhouse and take in the history of our ancestors. Walking into the archway you can sense the important role Norway House Fort anticipated during the Fur Trade Era. Norway House was once the hub of the transportation system for the west, south, east and the north.

I would like to thank Chief and Council for their support; staff, volunteers, and the community members for their countless hours in preparing for this event. Our corporate sponsors have come up huge this year. We appreciate every contributor for their support at TYBD.

We wish all of you the best of luck in your events and we hope you come out of the competition with a sense of satisfaction and good sportsmanship. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact the event coordinator(s) listed on our program.
